Forward Education Trust (FET) is a growing Multi-Academy Trust established in 2017 serving 7 special schools based in Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull.  Following a strategic review of the Trust’s central services, we are undertaking an exciting transformation, with the HR team at the forefront of this organisational change.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is seeking to further develop their HR career and has the ambition to grow with the Trust.  Our central HR Department currently comprises of the Head of HR, this newly created role and 2 HR Support Officers, who work with our 7 academies.

Working closely with academies, you will provide a proactive people service whilst supporting the Head of HR to shape the people strategy for the future. In particular, you will act as an advisor to academy leaders, teachers and support staff, collaborate with teams within our academies, advising on employment practices, learning and development, pay and conditions, talent planning, absence and welfare and disciplinary and grievance matters. Equally importantly, you will drive profound change to ensure we comply with evolving legislation.

A CIPD-qualified professional or with relevant experience, you will bring sound generalist HR experience gained in a fast-moving environment. You will need experience of case management, the ability to interpret and apply guidelines, experience of advising leaders and have the experience to be able to define best practice. Familiarity with educational issues would naturally be useful, but your interpersonal, conflict resolution and influencing skills will be of far more importance.

Our Trust has a flexible approach to working, some home-working can be agreed but in order to build team rapport and effectively support our school teams, there should be an expectation that the role will be largely office-based.  We operate flexible working patterns, between 8am and 6pm.  We are also happy to consider part time and reduced hours, which will be assessed in line with operational requirements. Please do make us aware on application if you are requiring reduced hours.

Successful candidates will be subject to a fully Enhanced DBS check along with other relevant employment checks.  We want to support your continued personal & professional development, so candidates are encouraged to tell us about their ambitions.

If you would like to discuss the scope of the role, or your suitability for it, please make contact via Clare Kellet at Hays to arrange a meeting with FET Head of HR, Karen Clarke.  You can find useful information about Forward Education Trust and details about this role via this link.
