Become a (Non-Executive) Director

Forward Education Trust is looking for committed and skilled people to join our Board of (Non-Executive) Directors (Trustees).

Forward Education Trust is delighted to be working with the TrusteeWorks Team at Reach Volunteering to recruit new Trustees to our Board. Applications are now open, and will be accepted until 5pm on 16 May 2025. Please see the Recruitment Pack below for more details, or contact trusteeworks@reachvolunteering.org.uk to find out more.

As Directors of a charitable Trust, our Board of Trustees ensure that they comply with charity and company law.  The Board is also accountable in law and to Ofsted for the Trust’s performance.

As set out in the Articles of Association, the Board has up to 9 Trustees appointed by the Members; the Trustees may also co-opt additional Trustees to the Board. The Board is chaired by Kate Canty.

The Board of Trustees meets four times per year.  As well as attending Board meetings, every Trustee is expected to sit on at least one of the Education; Audit, Risk and Finance or HR and Pay Committee.  Both the Education Committee and Audit, Risk and Finance Committee meet five times per year, and the HR and Pay Committee meets once per term.

In addition, Trustees are invited to events in schools and across the Trust, and are occasionally asked to serve on Panels.

All Members, Trustees and LAC Members must adhere to the Seven Principles of Public Life (the Nolan Principles)

  1. Selflessness
  2. Integrity
  3. Objectivity
  4. Accountability
